When they heard “Stand-in Medical”, many people’s first reaction was that they were replicants in science fiction films, and they were right.
As a mother of three children and a triple-negative breast cancer patient, Lin’s mother is optimistic and cares for her family. When her illness was at its worst, she was worried that her children and husband would have no one to take care of and accompany her, so she thought about finding a stand-in for herself: “At that time, I really wanted to help my husband find a better new wife and help the child choose a new mother…… If I do go.”
In order to spend more time with her husband and children, she tried stand-in medical technology.

Shimmer hour
When you walk into their story, you can clearly see the small but determined light in the darkness. In “Glimmer Hour”, the protagonists have a variety of backgrounds and life stories. They are musicians, professors, housewives, or academics. Through the interviews, the protagonists shared their own outlook on life and personal experiences, allowing the audience to feel and resonate with the life journeys of these different characters. In each episode, we will take the audience to an in-depth understanding of the real life of cancer patients, starting from different life backgrounds, occupations and social roles, revealing their outlook on life, disease experience, and attitude towards adversity. We hope to give strength and comfort to those struggling to fight cancer and their families, while also providing an opportunity for a wide audience to learn more about the disease and its impacts. Let’s listen to and share these powerful stories together, and feel the light that will not die in the midst of adversity.
