Circulating Tumor Cell is referred to as CTC, Chinese for blood circulation tumor cells, cancer cells that invade the blood vessel or lymphatic system from in situ tumors. As the tumor grows, some of the tumor cells will break off from the tumor in situ, like the "seed" of cancer spread, through the blood or lymphatic system to various organs and tissues in the body. These "seeds" are called circulating tumor cells (CTCs), which are simply the tumor cells that run around the body.
